Nature

The forests, rivers, streams and many lakes around Quesnel are filled with an array of beautiful and interesting plants and animals. If you are quiet enough and it is the right time of day you might catch a glimpse of one or more of the beautiful animals found in the Central Interior of British Columbia. Different species of local or migrating birds can be seen in the area all year round; such as the American White Pelican, the eagle, the osprey or maybe a swan. Fish, such as rainbow trout, kokanee or sockeye salmon can be seen in most of the creeks, rivers or lakes in the area. In the thick vast forest surrounding our city you can find fascinating wildlife such as fox, beaver, wolf, bear (both black and grizzly)moose, elk, woodland caribou, cougar and of course deer.

Seasons

Quesnel has four distinct and beautiful seasons - and with an average of 2025 sunshine hours per year, Quesnel is among BC's bright and sunny spots for any season. With average maximum daily temperatures of 24°C (75°F) in July and average minimum daily temperatures of -10.7°C (13°F) in December, we enjoy pleasantly mild summers and moderately cold winters.
